THE story that a family member had starred in Silent Movies was at first, just that... another family story.

A series of events and a few exchanges of e-mails led to a contact who turned out to be Jessie (Brock) Thomson's great-grandson.

In his possession was a magazine, handed down over the years, which contained a reference to a Little Dorothy Brock, who was of "Scotch and French" ancestry, being in a movie called "The Lullaby" with Jane Novak, a well-known silent movie actress in the 1920 period.

He also discovered some posters of "The Lullaby" – leaving us in no doubt that Little Dorothy had been found!

Dorothy Marion Brock was born in 1920 in Phoenix, Arizona. Her parents are George Thomson Brock, a stone-cutter and Thelma Remy.

From winning a Best Baby competition in Phoenix at the age of one, she then went on to win a similar competition in Santa Monica, California.

In her film career she performed in approximately 10 films between 1924-27 including The Lullaby, Lillies of the Fields, If I Marry Again, Christine of the Hungry Heart and So Big.

Recently we were lucky enough to be able to contact with Dorothy herself! She is still very active and one of her hobbies is skydiving!

She told us that she had an uncredited part in "Gone With The Wind.' She later went on to become a teacher of dance.
